SAUVIGNON

Aromatic elegance with a thousand faces

An extraordinarily versatile semi-aromatic grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most recognizable and beloved white wines in the world. The Tannico collection celebrates the many expressions of this fascinating grape variety, from its historic homeland in the Loire Valley to the excellence of northeastern Italy, to the more modern interpretations of the New World. A kaleidoscope of styles ranging from the most immediate and refreshing versions to wines of remarkable complexity and longevity, all sharing an unmistakable aromatic profile that combines herbaceous notes, citrus, exotic fruit, and that characteristic minerality that has made it a global success.

From the hills of Friuli to the Loire: territories of excellence

In Friuli Venezia Giulia, particularly in the Collio and Colli Orientali areas, Sauvignon finds one of its most refined Italian expressions, where the marly soils and the climate influenced by the Adriatic Sea give the wines an extraordinary aromatic complexity and an important structure. In South Tyrol, the alpine microclimate with strong temperature variations produces Sauvignon wines of extraordinary tension and elegance. In the French Loire, the Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé appellations are still the global benchmark for purity and elegance, while New Zealand's Marlborough interpretations have revolutionized the style of the grape variety with their explosive aromatics and unmistakable notes of passion fruit and elderflower.

An unmistakable bouquet: from cut grass to tropical fruits

The Tannico selection explores the entire aromatic spectrum of Sauvignon Blanc: from the classic notes of tomato leaf, cut grass, and asparagus typical of more continental examples, to the more exotic aromas of passion fruit, pink grapefruit, and white flowers that characterize expressions from warmer climates or higher altitudes. Vibrant acidity and tension on the palate are the common denominator of all Sauvignons, while the range of winemaking techniques—mainly in steel to preserve freshness and aroma, but also with short aging in wood or on fine lees for the more complex versions—further broadens the expressive spectrum of this extraordinary grape variety.

From Friulian masters to New Zealand stars: interpreters of excellence

Our collection brings together producers who have been able to bring out the best in this grape variety. Particular attention is paid to wineries that, through sustainable practices and respectful vinification, create Sauvignons that accurately express the characteristics of different terroirs, offering wines of extraordinary drinkability and gastronomic versatility, perfect companions for everything from seafood to vegetarian dishes, from goat cheeses to the liveliest Asian cuisines, confirming Sauvignon Blanc as one of the most versatile and appreciated whites on the world wine scene.
