SICILY

An island of contrasts, a land of great wines

Sicily is a miniature wine-producing continent, a kaleidoscope of unique terroirs ranging from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna to the windswept coasts, from the sunny hills of the hinterland to the ancient wine-producing islands. This extraordinary geological and climatic diversity, combined with a thousand-year-old tradition and a renewed spirit of innovation, has transformed the island into Italy's most dynamic wine region, capable of producing wines with unmistakable character.

From Nero d'Avola to volcanic gems

Nero d'Avola, the prince of Sicilian grape varieties, expresses all the sunshine of the island with its intense, fruity, Mediterranean wines, capable of great elegance in the most carefully crafted versions. Etna, a true laboratory of winemaking excellence, offers wines of extraordinary finesse and minerality through Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, increasingly appreciated for their complexity and longevity. Frappato produces reds of refined lightness, while Perricone is enjoying a well-deserved rediscovery thanks to enlightened producers.

A mosaic of whites and sweet wines for meditation

White Sicily shines with Grillo, a versatile and structured grape capable of expressing both freshness and complexity. Catarratto, the most widespread grape variety on the island, offers wines of character when vinified with care, while Zibibbo gives life to extraordinary aromatic productions in Pantelleria. It is impossible not to mention the sweet wines, true jewels of Sicilian oenology: from Passito di Pantelleria to Malvasia delle Lipari, to the historic Marsala, which is rediscovering its qualitative vocation thanks to niche productions that enhance its complexity and evolutionary potential.
