Where the Andes meet the Pacific: a wine paradise
Chile is one of the most fascinating frontiers in the world of wine, where exceptional natural conditions and growing winemaking expertise combine to create reds of extraordinary character and value. The country's unique geography, a narrow corridor between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, creates a mosaic of microclimates ideal for viticulture, with hot, dry summers, cool nights and ocean winds that moderate temperatures. This combination promotes slow and complete ripening of the grapes, preserving freshness and acidity. Our selection explores the entire quality spectrum of this country, from historic valleys such as Maipo and Colchagua to emerging areas such as Leyda and Bío-Bío, favouring producers who authentically express the different terroirs and who are contributing to the qualitative evolution that has transformed Chile from a simple producer of reliable wines to a terroir capable of creating some of the most exciting and distinctive labels on the world wine scene.
Carmenère: the lost and rediscovered grape
Carmenère is the oenological symbol of modern Chile and the heart of our selection. Originally from Bordeaux, where it practically disappeared after the phylloxera epidemic, this grape variety was rediscovered in Chile in the 1990s, where it had been cultivated for over a century and confused with Merlot. In the central valleys such as Colchagua, Cachapoal and Maipo, Carmenère finds ideal conditions that allow for complete phenolic ripening, which is impossible in many other wine-growing regions. The best selected examples offer a unique aromatic profile that combines ripe black fruits, finely integrated green pepper, spicy notes of black pepper and a characteristic touch of cocoa and tobacco. The structure is generally soft, with silky tannins and moderate acidity, making these wines particularly versatile at the table. Our collection features different stylistic interpretations, from the most immediate and fruity versions to single vineyard selections and reserves that showcase the extraordinary ageing potential of this grape variety when grown in the most suitable terroirs.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends: Andean elegance
Alongside Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon is the other great protagonist of Chilean winemaking, with interpretations that stand out on the world stage for their perfect balance of power, elegance and varietal character. The Maipo Valley, particularly the Alto Maipo area with its alluvial soils at the foot of the Andes, is renowned for producing some of the best Cabernets in the world, characterised by extraordinary aromatic finesse, an imposing but never excessive structure and evident ageing potential. Our selection also highlights Bordeaux blends, where Cabernet is combined with Merlot, Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and sometimes Petit Verdot, creating complex wines that combine New World precision with European elegance. Our collection also includes excellent interpretations of other international grape varieties such as Syrah, which in cooler areas such as Casablanca and Leyda expresses peppery and floral notes of great finesse, and Pinot Noir, which in recent years has found surprising expressions in the southernmost and coastal regions of the country.
