WHITE WINES OF PROVENCE

The white soul of Provence

The white wines of Provence are a hidden treasure in a region famous above all for its iconic rosés. These oenological gems, which account for just 6% of Provence's production, are born from terroirs kissed by the Mediterranean sun and caressed by the Mistral, the wind that purifies the vineyards and intensifies the aromas of the grapes.

On calcareous and clayey soils, influenced by the proximity of the sea and mountain ranges, Provençal winegrowers cultivate native and international grape varieties, creating wines of surprising freshness despite the southern climate. The Greek and Roman heritage of local viticulture blends with modern techniques to produce whites of extraordinary elegance, an authentic expression of a territory that smells of lavender, thyme, and maritime pine.

Distinctive grape varieties and appellations

The most prestigious appellations include Cassis, a small coastal gem specializing in structured and savory whites, Bandol, and Bellet, which produce whites of character despite the fame of their reds and rosés. The Côtes de Provence appellation, although dominated by rosés, offers interesting white wines, while Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and Coteaux Varois en Provence complete a panorama of extraordinary expressive richness.

Sensory characteristics and pairings

Provence whites have a straw color with greenish or golden reflections and seduce with an intense Mediterranean bouquet of white flowers, citrus fruits, yellow-fleshed fruits, aromatic herbs, and a distinctive salty note. On the palate, they impress with their balance between a generous structure and unexpected freshness, with an aromatic persistence that reflects the sunny character of the region.

Authentic ambassadors of the sweetness of Provençal life, the whites of this region deserve to be rediscovered for their ability to combine Mediterranean intensity with French elegance.
