CHÂTEAU DE MANISSY

Château de Manissy is a historic winery located on the right bank of the Rhone River, in France. Dating back to the 17th century, the estate can currently count on a vineyard that covers about 60 hectares, spread across the AOCs of Tavel, Lirac, Châteauneuf du Pape and Côtes du Rhône. At the beginning of the 20th century, both the castle and its vineyards were bequeathed to a religious order of monks, but in 2003 the winemaker Florian André took over the management, setting the company on a production of Southern Rhône classics. Florian's mission is to find new ways to protect the environment, the vineyards and the terroirs. This is why the rules of biodynamic agriculture are strictly followed. The plants grow on sandy soils rich in pebbles and marl, with no chemicals, and just copper and sulphur in the lowest concentrations possible, so to not polluting the soil. Mechanical intervention helps keeping the sub-row clean. From the vineyard to the cellar, the approach doesn’t change, in search of the highest possible quality. The use of sulphites is limited, and the main objective is to enhance what the vintage and the territory shaped in the fruit all along the year. Château de Manissy’s wines are able to instantly transport you directly to the banks of the Rhône.
