Tasting Notes

Champagne Brut Rosé "29ème Édition" - Krug (coffret): Why we like it

The unconventional origins of Maison Krug

It all began in 1834, when the young Joseph Krug, a forward-thinking non-conformist who had just arrived in France from his native Germany, began working in the Jacquesson cellars.

This experience gave him a clear understanding of Champagne within a few years and led him, in 1843 to be precise, to found his own Maison with the aim of producing Champagnes that would stand out not only for their absolute quality, but also for their well-defined and recognisable personality.

The philosophy of the maison

This is the story of a man who was determined like few others, guided by a philosophy that allowed no compromise, and who was the first to understand that the essence of Champagne is, first and foremost, pleasure itself.

Joseph Krug wanted to offer his customers the utmost pleasure every year, regardless of the climatic differences that each season and each harvest brought with them.

The Krug style is immediately apparent thanks to careful maturation in large oak barrels and prolonged contact with yeasts.

A style that has been handed down from father to son for centuries and remains wonderfully unchanged today.

Since 1999, the Maison has been part of the LVMH luxury group, but the approach remains the same as it was in the beginning, unconventional and aimed at enhancing the individuality of each single vineyard plot in prestige cuvées that are renewed year after year in the spirit of continuity.

Krug Champagnes

So, in addition to Krug Rosé and the Millesimati, there is Krug Brut “Grande Cuvée”, to mention the Maison's icon, a Champagne that comes from 250 different vineyards and brings together no less than 150 reserve wines, some of which are aged for up to 15 years.

Meticulous savoir-faire leads to the creation and online sale of unique Champagnes, extraordinary cuvées now available in the largest selection of wines online in Italy.
