LVMH. A simple acronym. A simple acronym that stands for ‘Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy’, the only group in the world to be present in all the most important sectors of the luxury market: from fashion and leather goods to cosmetics and perfumes, from watches and jewellery to the wine and spirits sector.

The group recently arrived in China, where, not far from the legendary city of Shangri-La, on the high slopes of the Himalayas, between 2,200 and 2,600 metres above sea level, Cabernet Ao You was born, the offspring of the estate of the same name led by Maxence Dulou.

This new challenge came to fruition with the first bottled vintage in 2013, thanks to which Moët Hennessy discovered an unknown land that immediately proved capable of producing a great wine.

The project began with four years of research in China, during which an area north of Yunnan, a province with great and extraordinary wine-growing potential located along the banks of the Mekong River, was selected. Spread across the villages of Adong, Xidang, Sinong and Shuori, there are 314 plots from which the grapes used to make Ao Yun wine are harvested, covering a total area of thirty hectares.

In a microclimate similar to that of the Bordeaux region of France, the ancient traditions of the local farmers are never compromised, and every step of the production process, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, is carried out strictly by hand.

The result is a wine capable of “flying above the clouds” (this is the literal meaning of “Ao Yun”). A red wine that comes to life from a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, offering freshness, balance and substance on the palate. A Cabernet that opens the doors to Chinese wine, literally conquering the Himalayan territory.
